Western Region and the Washington State DAs are looking at May 11 as a restart date for the season.

This is dependent on “Stay in place” orders, and whether or not they have been lifted.

Little League is encouraging all leagues to try and get a “regular” season in and if possible Districts. It’s unknown at this time if there will be any other possibility for post season play, but their primary concern is for a regular season to keep all the kids playing during the summer. We won’t necessarily have to have a District tournament, but a regular season would be better for everyone…. So think about how to accomplish that.

Everyone is aware that fields may be an issue for those of you that don’t own your own fields. They are suggesting conversations at this time with cities or schools that have the fields you use and ask them to allow you to extend your season into the summer.

They are also asking that you discuss summer play with your players and families, and keep in mind, this is NOT about all-stars, but about every kid getting the chance to play some baseball this year. It’s important to be motivated in this direction.

They will also publish a set of skills/drills kids can start doing at home to be ready for the summer season.

So, the current guidance is, unless something changes, try to start a regular season after May 12, and redraft if you need to. This may change if there is further guidance from health officials after May 11, but for now this is the thinking from Little League.
