All,
We have been talking about the umpire clinic for District 13 for a few months now and as a reminder it is THIS WEEKEND! Here are some particulars:
Date: Sunday March 13
Time: 1:00 PM (so you don’t have to miss church)
Location: 23606 E. Boone, Liberty Lake WA.
Instructor: Dennis Williams – State Umpire in Chief, Little League, Regional Umpire, Western Region (and now Little League World Series Umpire)
Dennis is a great umpire, and a great instructor. This is a FREE CLINIC put on by the District. It is for ANYONE who wishes to be an umpire can attend. I would suggest at a minimum you send your league Umpire-in-Chief…but as many as you can send would be good. The more umpires we can get trained the better.
I NEED A HEAD COUNT – I would like to order some patches for those that complete the training. We will also hold a drawing for a free umpire jersey with a official Little League umpire patch. So please let me know how many from your league(s) will be attending. I need to know by Wednesday so I can let Dennis know how to prepare. Dennis is coming over from South Seattle, and he does not charge for his time… which is valuable. He is doing this because he is dedicated to making Little League better in Washington State, so I would like our District to respond by sending as many people as we can get to this clinic. We will be providing Dennis a room, a couple meals and some gas money to do the clinic, and I would like to treat him well…
Let’s get behind this with all our effort, get your UICs (umpire in chief) there and as many individuals that may want to umpire for you this season. One league thought they may send all their majors and intermediate coaches… send high school kids, parents, retired grandparents, SEND anyone who you can think of that can help umpire! The bigger the pool of umpires we put together, the better… and then maybe we can have good umpires for our District Tournament this year!
Send me a number (even if it is an educated guess) of how many you think you can send to the clinic….(By Wednesday the 9th) - (Also, we are looking for an indoor venue just in case it is raining to heavily… bring a rain coat, because even if it is slightly raining or sprinkling we will have it outdoors, if it is a downpour we are looking for an indoor spot too, but I am pretty sure we won’t need to bring it indoors in any case).
Regards
