Hi Jeff,

A couple of points:

  1. Any notes or communications I have sent regarding this matter (and nearly every other matter) have been approved and discussed with Western Region and Williamsport
  2. I am NOT a compensated member of the District, I am a volunteer just like everyone else. In fact I usually wind up subsidizing, hundreds, if not thousands of dollars each year for the District. Since 2007 businesses I own have contributed over $75K to Little League.  I got here by being involved with Little League for 30+ years, serving on boards for various positions (including player agent, president, coaching coordinator, treasurer, vice president, and coaching coordinator), as an ADA for years, and now a DA for years. I was asked to take over District 13 because of work done in District 5. I was DA over both districts for 4 years, and fortunately this year I can back off and consider issues and operations for just District 13.
  3. It is erroneous to think that all rules, policies, guidelines, and other “rulings” are in the rule book. As a couple of examples, the rules for Charter are not fully described in the rule book. Umpire management and requirements are not fully in the rule book, but are contained elsewhere. League operations are not fully in the “rule book” but scattered over several sections of Little League operating policy documents, websites, and other sources. Disciplinary actions towards leagues are not in the rule book, and the list can run on. Suffice it to say that Little League International can make any rule it likes anywhere it sees necessary to make, AND alter, or clarify them.
  4. Leagues do have the right to make adjustments to operations and add local “concerns”, so long as they are APPROVED by Little League, in writing, and they do not violate any rule, principle, guideline, policy, or operational procedure established in any manner by Little League International.
  5. You are MORE than welcome to attend the meeting this evening to see the entire presentation and are welcome to any materials being distributed. One of the benefits of Little League affiliation is transparency and communication… which at times I have been accused of communicating too much. 😊 (i.e. talking more than I should).

My goal as a DA is to be fair, create player opportunity, and to advocate for the player almost exclusively.

Hopefully can see you tonight on the video call.

Hi JP,

This information appears to be from an insert or flyer of some sort. We have a board meeting coming up to firm the beginning of season details. Going in, I would like to make sure we are following the actual rules and guidelines set by Little League. It is my hope you are not articulating another league's adopted practice or your personal preference. Each league is its own autonomous entity under the Little League banner. As the only compensated volunteer in our district, we rely on you for complete, detailed, and supported information for any league implemented processes or rule changes mandated by Little League International.

Please cite the reference to your "extra notes". We would like to reference them as part of our decision on any potential drafting procedural changes.

Have a great rest of your week!

Are these notes taken directly from the Little League Rulebook? Can you please also send out the drafting method information that is in the Rulebook.  The Rulebook/operating policy from Little League International are the policies that leagues are obligated to follow.

Thanks so much!
