Resource Guide Newsletter Graphic

Chartering and Insurance enrollment for the 2026 season is right around the corner, making this the perfect time to wrap up everything in your league for 2025 and set the foundation for a fun and memorable year ahead.

In addition to taking advantage of the various free trainings available at LittleLeague.org/Training that are perfect to take this time of year before the season ramps up, including the Resource Guide Prepare Companion Course, here are a few important topics to keep in mind heading into October:

·       Background Check Reset: As a reminder, background checks and Abuse Awareness Training reset for local leagues annually on October 1. Leagues operating Fall Ball/Training and Development Seasons are reminded that volunteers who completed a background check for the 2025 season do not need a new check starting on October 1. Any new volunteers must complete their background check and Abuse Awareness Training prior to being appointed as a volunteer. If that background check is completed after October 1, the league may use that check for the 2026 season, as well.

·       Facility Closing: As your season comes to an end, make sure to take the steps to properly close your facility and pay attention to the details every step of the way.

·       Annual Meetings: If you haven't already done so, be sure to start thinking about when and where to hold your annual meeting. Don't forget the great resources available for you to help plan your league's meeting.

·       Year-End Financials: The end of your league's fiscal year is quickly approaching, so make sure to start planning for financial reconciliation, utilizing your league's audit committee to review debts and credits and prepare for filing tax reports for the 2025 season.

·       Board Elections: The fall marks a great time to hold your league's board elections, so take advantage of these five things to ensure things run smoothly.

·       Constitution Review: Make sure to take time to review your league's constitution and bylaws to set your community up for success heading into 2026. As a reminder, the constitution can be found in the Data Center Filing Cabinet and should be reviewed by the League President annually.
