City of Des Moines will not allow anything stuck in the ground because of irrigation pipes.

And the reason I suggested this (even though Glen said nothing stuck in the ground) is that the Park’s n’ Rec said the same thing here, but they allowed these posts because there was no hole left after the fence would be removed… the thing that sticks in the ground is like ¼” in diameter – see my other post…

Hi All

We had to use temp fencing (that orange stuff – plastic) for one of the fields this year in Dist 13… the posts we had were pretty trick… they just had the loops on the post to hang the fence. I borrowed them from someone that did events… (they were free)… they break away safely if there is an impact… fast, easy… took like 15 minutes after the arc was put on the ground where the fence went… I can loan these to you Del if you need them… You just step on them to put them in the ground… literally took less than an hour when using that plastic orange stuff to do the whole fence… used a can of spray paint to make a batter’s eye… tournament just ended, worked well, very safe.. We can figure out how to get it to you.. Dist 13 probably has enough fence to do the field too…

The site for the major state softball tournament has moved its fences to 285 feet and will not allow Del to use a temporary fence if it means anything will be stuck in the ground.

Del would like an affirmation from districts participating that he can use some type of demarcate ion of the outfield “fence.”

At this time he doesn’t know if that will be a painted line at somewhere between 200 and 210 feet or if it will be cones/ribbons.

Please let us know your thoughts on this, or at least acknowledge this notice. It isn’t clear to me if regionals is asking for a vote or just affirmation that all have been informed. If everyone says no, I don’t know how the tournament can be held because there is no alternative site available.
