D13 Gives gifts of note to umpires that are at ANY tournament for us for more than 2 games… State or District. We have given out jackets, umpire equipment, T-shirts, ball bags, etc. We also often will cook them special dinners from the host league or have taken some out for steaks.

Sincerely,

When hosting State Tournaments, we have always had umpire swag to give away.

Travel cooler bags with the State Tournament logo we created, umpire brushes, clickers, water bottles, …

At District, we usually have D8 logo’ed umpire hats, fully embroidered, that they earn after umpiring a certain number of games.

All umpires at State and District get State and/or District pins.

We also have Umpire pins from over the years and the selection will probably last for several years before we even have to think of getting new ones.and not run out.

We also step it up during State Tournaments for food.  We don’t just do pizza or sandwiches (like for District tournaments).  We will do BBQ, flank steak, …   We have some district and umpire staff that will lay out a spread for the umpires and staff during State tournaments.

Also note, we have been getting an ever larger set of Junior umpires, so this year (this Saturday) we are hosting our very first Tournament Umpire Mechanics Clinic where we will be teaching 3 and 4 man crew, and some of the intricacies of Tournament play and rules vs just normal regular season games.  Any Junior umpire will get their “volunteer hours” signed for their High Schools.

Lastly, for any of our D8 umpires who travel to other Districts for their State Tournaments, we will offer to reimburse them for some of their travel expenses.  Most never want this even if offered, but we usually get 1 or 2 that appreciate that we cover some of their costs.

D9 has given various things out. Popular items have been ball bags and plate brushes.

We don't usually get umpire gifts specially made (with the exception of Little League State in 2019, my UIC had some little pocket-sized line-up card holders made up for just that tournament) Normally I just give state tournament umpires one of the custom state tournament pins, a district pin, and I spring for a tournament t-shirt if they want one...

Yes for both.  We have done shirts and cooler bags with D4 on them.  Last year we gave out small cooler bags with the Mike Ray logo on them along with the ice pack.  For state I make sure to give the umpire a tournament pin and a District pin also along with the gift.
