Hello Dennis and State DAs,

I was on vacation last week and unable to attend last Wednesday’s DA meeting, but was told that we spent some amount of time discussing state tournament dates. Going back to our September meeting, I recall you mentioning that you liked the state tournaments for the younger players starting later in the month of July, as it allowed the tournaments to be better spread out, allowing more umpires to attend more games.

At our District 8 staff meeting last night, we discussed earlier vs later, with the overwhelming majority of league presidents preferring that our state tournaments for younger players start later in the month of July, similar to what we did last season. I realize that dates for the regional tournaments have not yet been established, but given this input from my league presidents, would recommend that we start our 8/9/10 and 9/10/11 baseball and softball state tournaments no sooner than Saturday, July 16^th. I’d also recommend that similar to last season we be wrapped up by the end of July.

Somewhat roughing out the younger divisions, I can see:

Little League Softball – Start July 9^th

Little League Baseball – Start July 16^th

8/9/10 Softball – Start July 16^th

8/9/10 Baseball – Start July 23^rd

9/10/11 Baseball – Start July 23^rd

9/10/11 Softball – Start July 23^rd
