After conversations with my UIC, ADA and a few presidents, I don't believe District 11 will be able to participate in 8-10 softball if the dates stay as proposed.  To piggy-back off what Brian said, our schools here don't finish until the week of the 20th of June.  Our regular season for that age group doesn't end until the 14th.  While we *could* cut our season short by a week, I still don't think that we would be able to field teams at that age group with the current timeline.  One other factor is that the NSA state tournament is also that weekend.  While we don't revolve around travel ball, we do try to work with them rather than against, and this would directly interfere with that.  
 
Seeing as there are no tournaments beyond State for this age group, we suggest that District 4 reconsider their proposed dates so that all players are able to participate.

After doing some checking, we have several leagues that are still wrapping up their scheduled season by that time.  Even if they were to change their league schedules, you are talking about teams having only a few days to have practices and arrange everything that goes along with All Stars.  I know that some cannot just adjust to get the games in earlier because fields from Seattle Parks and Rec are hard to come by with so many groups that vie for them (youth sports doesn’t really get any preferential treatment).  So basically, they would have to shorten the season for ALL the girls at these levels in order to accommodate the All Stars.

 

And then we have 3 very large school districts that aren’t out of school until Friday June 20 (at least, given snow/closures that occurred during the winter storms)

 

I also bounced this off of my District Softball people, and this basically isn’t going to be feasible and allow the girls to enjoy the All Star experience.  We should not short change the regular season in order to accommodate All Stars, and we need to ensure that we give the All Star teams time.

 

That is not to mention the 2-a-day games for some teams at that age group for State.  The only time I have seen this is at the older levels, and usually only for the “what-if” 2nd Championship game, or if rainouts are a factor.

 

It would be appreciated D4’s decision on dates for hosting the SB 8-9-10 State tournament would be revisited.

Back games (or 2 games in a day) would be a challenge because pitching at this age is still developing and I think with restricted pitching innings it could be hard for teams.

As I stated some time ago, I could not confirm the 8-10 State Softball dates until I found a host league and we worked out our tournament schedule.  I believe we have completed this as best as we can at this time.  We have decided to hold the 8-10 State SB tournament June 28 - July 3.  This is what works best for the host league.

 

Yes, this is early and most tournaments that don't advance past state are later in July.  However, we believe by holding this tournament earlier we will avoid the rush of state tournaments which start July 5 and the other four that start the next two weekends.  We also believe if we get this tournament done early players will be free to join other age-appropriate teams if they are needed.

 

We are going to have some double headers (two games in a day but they may not be back to back) to shorten the tournament from nine days to six.  Travel is expensive and we want to help the families out as much as we can.
