D13 is working to make the 11u tournament this year as memorable as possible. We have some smaller details that are important for you.
The first thing is the Brewster Hall venue. I took an extended tour of the facility yesterday and it is going to be very very nice for Little Leaguers. I am encouraging you to put your whole team there if
possible. It’s a great, brand new facility, and it is in just the right spot in town. It’s a series of suites, 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms. We have 29 reserved for Little League. You need to have at least one adult in each room. However the 4 bedroom suites can probably
house 8 players if you have 2 of them sleep on air mattresses. The price is incredible compared to other rooms in the area.
Our manager’s meeting will be held there in the cafe. This same café/gathering area where we are planning to have snacks and drinks for purchase, is right in the venue. The facility also has a couple of very
nice common areas. One of the ones on the 3rd floor will have games, a TV, and possibly a video game console to keep the kids occupied when not playing baseball. It’s big enough so that probably 50 kids could hang out in it at once.
One thing of importance to remember is that we have VERY hot weather here in the Spokane area this time of year. The noon time temperatures are often over 100 degrees. However, this facility is going to be
a great place to hang out when not at the fields because of the huge airconditioned common areas so the players don’t have to stay in the suites, and they don’t have to get out and run around in the heat. It also has a large fridge in each room, a microwave,
and there are “community” kitchens on each floor where full meals can be cooked. Not all rooms have TVs so check on that before you select your room if a TV is a must. There IS wifi throughout that is free.
The place looks brand new… beds in most cases are queens. You can also put up to 2 kids on air mattresses in each unit…so the 4 bedrooms (sleeping 2 players to a bed) could easily house 8 players and still
have a private room for adults. And the price just can’t be beat… we checked. It also has laundries on each floor, so you don’t have to go out of the building to wash some uniforms. Finally it’s in a quaint section of Cheney and literally there are shops,
restaurants, (breweries for late night adult relaxation), and all the necessities within WALKING distance – less than 100 yards away.

Next we ARE planning an opening ceremonies parade, a swim night at the brand new municipal pool, oh - and a “party night”. We sent some details in the packet but when/if you check into Brewster Hall there
will be a schedule of information playing on the TVs around the facility. We’ll also have MLB baseball, cartoons, and potentially movies playing in the downstairs common area so it will be fun. We MIGHT have a pool table down there as well as some arcade games
but we are not sure of that yet…
We want to remind everyone that is very hot during this time of year. Think Hydration, Hydration, Hydration. If it gets too hot, then we may stop games turn the sprinklers on and let the players cool off in
the spray. Yes it gets that hot. During the Juniors tournament few years ago it was 105 degrees at game time for a game.
And if you are sending umpires (A)
We greatly appreciate it, (B) we have a 4 bedroom suite set aside for umpires (and their spouses if the decide to come) and (C) one of the local RV dealers in town has given us a 30’ diesel pusher RV for the week to house umpires and give them
a private place to get ready, relax, and cool off right at the baseball fields. Yes the fridge will be stocked with refreshments and snacks, and there will be food vendors and at least one amazing taco truck that they will be able to get free meals at.. plus
there are 3 breweries next to the Brewster Hall that can definitely help them unwind.

And if that isn’t enough, 15-20 minutes away is Spokane, lakes, and a little further is Coeur D’Alene (if you wanna hang with movie stars, celebs, and the transient rich) for those interested in some other
types of fun. Silverwood (A theme park) is about 45 minutes away and has a huge water park and roller coasters, there is laser tag in Spokane, 4 or 5 casinos within minutes, concert venues, hiking trails, arcades, dozens of movie theaters, and the rivers are
great for swimming (that’s what the local do). Plan something “different” and run over to Idaho, find a creek or river and do some gold panning. For adults there are music venues galore, wineries in Spokane, and tons of restaurants that are literally world
class (for some odd reason Spokane has A LOT of James Beard award winning chefs for a town it’s size!). For a fun night of dining, try “Sengs”… on Monroe.. the food is GREAT and the kids will have a blast without breaking the bank.
