Hi All,

District 13 has finished it’s tournament last night.. the following leagues will be attending state tournaments:

Majors Softball – West Plains, Stacey Ashcroft President

Majors Baseball – Liberty Lake – Steve Raab President

8-10 Baseball – West Plains – Stacey Ashcroft President

10-11 Baseball – Liberty Lake – Steve Raab President

Stacey’s email -  stacyashcroft09@gmail.com

Steve’s email - president@riverviewlittleleague.com

They have their packets.

One thing we did, to develop a bit of competition among the league presidents is we created a “special award” for the league that had the best performance in the tournament. We ranked it by who wone the most divisions, and if that was a tie, who scored the most runs… in the tournament. Liberty Lake was awarded the prize… They managed to mercy every team except 1, in the 10-11 and major’s divisions. What is the prize?

It’s a painting. We are going to pass from league year-to-year. The winning league president signs and dates the painting so that it is recorded for posterity. Then the next year the painting is passed on to the next year’s winning league. After a few years it will have all the names of the leagues and presidents signed on the canvas and will build a rich history for the District… Kind of like the Stanely Cup… it’s an ugly painting. But it’s baseball and it’s patriotic… if you can imagine. Wait.. you don’t have to imagine. I’ve included a picture of it here with the Major’s winners… It’s a painting of an American flag, except the stripes are bats, and the stars are baseballs. Fitting for tournaments that are around the 4th of July. We found it at a garage sale, for a quarter. It’s an oil painting.

BTW the kids in the picture are not showing how to “punch someone out” – they got championship rings instead of medals…

Hopefully D13 Teams will fare well at state, but we had fun at districts no matter what.
