District Administrators (Please pass this on to your district and Leagues social media administrators)

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many tournaments were streamed online... Now... We have scams that have followed.

I have noticed that Scammers have infiltrated many of our Washington State District's and league's social media pages (mostly Facebook) with links to fake LIVE streams. The scam post will be in the form of a comment on the District's or league's social media posts about team championships or good luck in the upcoming tournaments. Under the comments look for a post like this:

The scammer hopes the victim will click the link and enter their information and pay to watch the event, however, the victim will be unable to watch the stream even after their information is entered - Instead, the data the victim just entered will be compromised.

These comments can be removed by the person who is the administrator of the district or league social media page - thus no one will see it and can not get scammed. (always block the person 1st and then delete the post -
If you delete the post 1st, you can't block them from posting it again)

Here are some quick tips for fans, parents, grandparents, and or other family members on how to stay safe online:

1. REMEMBER - IF A GAME IS STREAMED (By a Parent or League) IT WILL BE FREE - THERE IS NO CHARGE, SO DON'T ENTER CREDIT CARD INFORMATION

Be cautious clicking on links included in social media posts, unsolicited text messages, or emails. Clicking on unfamiliar links can place you at risk for malware or identity theft.
