For the last five state tournaments I have done, I only had opening ceremonies once. First it was covid concerns, then too many teams on byes that didn't want to come a day early and this year, I just can't make all those families get  up a few hours early after the Independence Day celebrations that this age kids enjoy so much. I held one last year for the major boys (and we didn't finish that night until midnight).
