Hello all,

Today was our first 'entertaining' day.....so please forgive the late night update...wine was in order. 

More great baseball. Honestly, these boys have been so much fun to watch..... 

If you remember, in my update yesterday, I mentioned some local middle school boys who had set up a concession stand and were asked to leave.... Well, in the first game of the day (D2 v D8) a man comes storming up the stairs into our scorebox, phone out, demanding to get the number of the president b/c....something about racial profiling. Not sure, I was announcing. So I had my ADA go speak to him. Turns out he was the dad of one of the boys who had been asked to leave the day before. 

Next thing we know he's storming up the stairs again, phone out, telling us he's going to sue us. (Pretty sure he's talking about the league....as he probably has no idea about the whole district/league thing.) Anyway, we had to call the cops, yada, yada, yada. I don't think the boys playing had any idea what was going on.....and that was my goal. 

D2 (South Kitsap Eastern) won over D8 (RUG, et al) 8-6. 

As all of that was going on, it was time to get the managers of our game 9 teams ready to go. We'd locked the scorebox to keep 'crazy guy' out, so my ADA went out to do the coin flip for our next two coaches. 

Between games, 'crazy guy' finally leaves (shout out to our D2 peeps who were doing book and pitch count.....apparently 'crazy guy' used to live down there, and they were able to give us a name! Small world.).

Game 9 was a winner's bracket game between D4 - Evergreen and our team from D11 here in Anacortes. It was a really good game. In fact my only comment would be that during the '6th inning stretch' when we have all the parents stand up and we sing the 'Natl Anthem of Baseball', the Anacortes parents were worthless. They sat, like bumps on logs. I changed the words to the song. They sat. It was pathetic. I asked the Evergreen parents to adopt me. In the end, Anacortes won 5-1. 

The 'entertainment' began post game. The Anacortes manager came up, signed his pitching records and left. The Evergreen manager came up, signed his pitching records, and then told me that one of his pitchers was ineligible, but we hadn't marked it, so he went ahead and pitched him. (Ann is aware, we have talked.) 

Long story short, after he left and I spoke with Kosmas, I called the protest line, and Kit gave him a two game suspension. I called the manager and let him know. He then called me back to tell me it was 'my' fault, so he shouldn't be suspended. After speaking with Kit a second time, the manager texted me and 'agreed' to a one-game suspension because it wasn't 'fully on' him. 

Side note: We have a pitch count tracker where the pitch counter makes X's and /'s for each pitch. That information matches the pitch count data sheet in the affidavit. After a game, I walk through the information with each coach, ask them if they agree, and then have them initial both our pitch count tracker and the affidavit's pitch count data sheet. I then sign the data sheet. All of this information was correct. 

Then, as a cheat sheet for myself, I write the date of when that pitcher is eligible again in the margin on my pitch count tracker. In this case, I had written the wrong date (by one day) in the margin. In the chaos of finishing game 8 and starting game 9, I looked at my 'date', told my ADA both teams were good, and sent her down to flip. Per my ADA, the Evergreen manager hesitated when she said there were no ineligible pitchers, and when she asked if she should go double check, was told it was fine. 

Kit's going to reach out to Williamsport in the morning, so more to come there. Meanwhile, I had to come home and have some wine.
