First Championship Game today – Mercer Island v. Everett

Yesterday afternoon we had opening ceremonies (got some great drone footage ) Players got to run out of a tunnel on to the field, speeches by the Mayor, brilliant day with temps around 95. All in attendance got free hotdogs (players, fans, and onlookers), Simplot brought in a “french fry trailer” and gave away free french fries to everyone. Drinks were on the house. Then after the speeches and team parade there were games and contests for kids late into the evening with prizes and lots of fun. There are pictures we will upload later today (hopefull) and some cool drone video.

Othello has really rolled out the red carpet. The park is in great shape, the facilities look brand new. There are food vendors, concessions, a security presence and press coverage.

It has the potential to be a good tournament. We have a shortage of umpires (as compared to last week) but it’s still a reasonable crew (anyone wanna come do a state tournament? We have rooms and food).
