My sincere apologies for missing the deadline. It really pains me to be late on anything, but especially something you are all depending on.
Glen, Thanks for the packet. I have one beef with the schedule that has been a pet peeve of mine for many years. I don't expect you to change it now. Just registering my opinion for others for future consideration. I am very against days with double headers if not all teams play two games in a day. I know that most every softball "tournament" has the teams playing multiple games a day. However, the principle of fair distribution still applies. It is not fair when some teams have to play two games in a day and others do not. I understand why this was done. I just don't agree that saving that day in the calendar is worth it. One of the things I am glad to see is that all teams will have played their first game before any teams are eliminated. It is easy to miss this when there are bye games. It just seems like poor form to send a team home before another team has played their first game. Thanks for all you have done for so many years. I'm sure the tournament will be a success. Hi, Unsolicited comment from me, the JLSWS Director. We also have some Double Headers at the JLSWS for 2 reasons; 1 is reduce the costs of the tournament by a day, as it's already 10 hotel nights, buses, food, field rentals, volunteer time, ESPN time, etc. Another thought is we have the foreign teams get double headers, so they get a tourism day in Seattle. I know this doesn't dovetail directly into your concerns, and I agree that no team should be eliminated before everyone has played at least one game - however sometimes with odd numbers of teams, it can be a challenge to help make a tournament affordable for all involved. I agree with your opinion on unequal double headers. In this case, with losing Saturday, I had no choice. The team starts play in San Bernardino on the 18th, which means they will be on planes on Thursday. Another day of tournaments just seemed too soon for me to inflict on the winner. One of the 11 teams will be happy for the extra day, 10 won't be happy whether they play a double header or not. I was able to protect against sending someone home before all had played, which is a priority for me. My preferred address is wdist3ll@gmail.com. The person who did my packet for me missed the change, and included some gpdickason@comcast.net. I don't look at that email often, but I will be monitoring this week it so I don't miss anyone. Double Headers aside…I strive to ensure that no team gets eliminated and goes home until every team has played at least one game. If this isn’t a Little League Tournament policy, it certainly should be. There are times where games at 9am and 12n occur on the second day in order to get in the games that didn’t occur on the first day due to scheduling, logistics, BYEs, etc. Then the afternoon/evening games on that second day will be elimination games for teams that lost on the first day. BUT, nobody goes home until every team has played at least one game. --brian From: Wadas <wadas-bounces@lists.rodeonetworks.com> On Behalf Of Steve Allen via Wadas Sent: Saturday, June 27, 2026 7:32 PM To: 'WA District 3 Little League' <wdist3ll@gmail.com>; 'Washington DAs Discussion Forum' <wadas@lists.rodeonetworks.com> Cc: goldasflyer@gmail.com Subject: Re: [Wadas] State Softball packet Yup, sometimes there just isn’t a perfect answer to game schedules, best we can do is have a bracket and draw for slots. Next year I'm going to try to see if during pool play if I can do all double headers to shorten the WS tournament by a day, or give teams a day off. Almost all are used to playing multiple games in a day with their select/travel teams. At the WS, the doubles are for example 10am, and then 4pm, not back to back. For softball, I'm all for two games a day twice in a week to shorten the length of a state tournament and save families money. Baseball is a different story with the pitching limitations. I'm saving my two games in one day to the end of my district tournaments, if I can, for the IF game. Next year I’m going to try to see if during pool play if I can do all double headers to shorten the WS tournament by a day, or give teams a day off.
Almost all are used to playing multiple games in a day with their select/travel teams.
At the WS, the doubles are for example 10am, and then 4pm, not back to back.
