I apologize for not getting scores to all of you. I have been keeping up the state website manager – Rob Little – but forgot until I started opening mail that I also need to send to district administrators. I had missed several days of email, but as I caught up I was reminded of my omission. Day 1 Pacific 8, West Seattle 0 North Central 4, Spokane Valley/Liberty Lake 3 Asotin County 10, Sedro-Woolley 1 Hazel Dell 11, Richland National 9 – 9 innings North Kitsap 13, Camas 3 Day 2 Chehalis 3, Pacific 0 North Central 4, Issaquah 2 Asotin County 2, Hazel Dell 1 South Hill 6, North Kitsap 2 Richland National 10, Sedro-Woolley 0 – Loser Out Day 3 North Kitsap 6, Spokane Valley/Liberty Lake 2 – Loser Out West Seattle 3, Hazel Dell 2 – 8 innings – Loser Out Issaquah 2, Camas 0 – Loser Out Richland National 3, Pacific 0 – Loser Out Good crowds, mild temperatures, and good games. No real issues, except one very small minority of fans from one league who were trying to get to the umpires after a loss. We have a construction trailer as an umpire room. The two men trying to get in were stopped by some of our volunteers. One woman got inside to demand the umpires’ names, phone numbers and addresses, but left when threatened with the probability of police intervention. The only other incidents were a single fan being asked to quit yelling insulting comments, who apologized to the person asking and to the other fans around him; and in another game, what appeared to be a “civil war” between fans who supported a coach and others who were yelling very negative (threatening?) comments to the coach. That’s not bad considering how high emotions get in the high-stress atmosphere of a majors state tournament. Tomorrow we have 4 games – Chehalis plays North Central and Asotin County plays South Hill in winner’s bracket games. North Kitsap plays West Seattle and Issaquah plays Richland National compete in loser out games.
