Hey All, I am giving all you State Tournament Directors a heads up. It's been a late winter here for us in Eastern Washington (snow on the ground in May in Spokane), and it has been raining incessantly most of the month of May. We have flooding today and for the last several days on the Spokane river, and several of the fields in both Districts have flooding and washouts making them unplayable for extended. To say we are NOT in a drought cycle is an understatement. The only folks happy about the rain and late snow (one of the local ski resorts actually had a run open on Memorial Day) are the farmers. It's supposed to dry out a bit this week, but our tournament starts next week. So I don't think we will get all our required minimum games in . I am pressing all the leagues to try and double up games this week and last, and, I have asked Kit/Western for blanket waivers as I think only two of my leagues are getting close to getting all their games in. SO expect to see a ton of waivers for "less than minimum required games"
From District 5 and 13. we are trying to get to 12 games but may not make it.
Some of my divisions also had a lot of "drop outs" from All-Stars in the last week because of unplayable conditions. While we will be able to fill the tournament commitments as far as sending someone, we are going to issue 4 "Advance without Play Waivers" (3 in Dist 5 and 1 in Dist 13) Softball seemed to be affected most. This is due in part to the weather affecting game counts and leagues being able to get prepared. JP DA WA5/13
