Hi All, We are about midway through the tournament and again we want to say thanks for all the effort and time it takes to be at the tournament. We/I wanted to send out a few notes to help execute the tournament better, more expeditiously, answer a few questions, and address some things that have popped up. I'm sending this out in this manner so that everyone get's it in case me or some other tournament official forgets a piece of it during the coin flip.... So please tune these few items up in your efforts before, during and after the game. So here they are in now particular order. 1. There is a web page that has all current and past pitch counts: https://wadist13ll.org/2025-little-league-tournaments/ it's under the "Eligibility" link. We try to update those within minutes after every game. Your coin flipper may or may not have eligibility 2. After the game don't have your teams in the outfield for a post game meeting, take them to the park area or outside the playing area for your post team meetings. USUALLY it's very hot and sometimes the grounds crew wants to put a little water out in the outfield, or they may need to do something in the outfield... plenty of space outside the field itself to meet... in the shade. 3. Make sure players and fans are quiet when the pitcher comes set. 4. No communication either electronically or directly to anyone outside the dugout. We did speak with Western about that, and we did an informal poll of all DAs in the state. Western Region and those that responded said "toss 'em"... so please limit your phone use in the dugout and don't speak to folks outside the dugout during the game (medical issues not included in this policy). 5. We err on the side of caution when a rule interpretation is requested. That slowed down a game yesterday but we wanted to get it right, not just right, but exact. You have every right to question an intepretation, just expect that I will run it to the ground when trying to formulate the best answer. Umpires may confer with the UIC, the Protest Committee, myself, Western, and possibly Williamsport. We don't want to "rob" anyone of something that is rightfully theirs. We know the rules, but we want to make things as right as right can be. 6. We almost had a game a game go into darkness last night because of various factors. There are "late games" for the next couple of days, and amazingly enough we have rain in the forecast today. (It just doesn't really happen this time of year that we have these cool temperatures AND the possibility of rain). If we have to extend the game to the next day that creates the possibility of a double-header to keep the tournament schedule on track. We will do everything that we can to avoid this, but in the event it has to happen, be prepared. 7. We had a player get hit in the chest by a hot grounder yesterday. Another got a broken nose (!) during warm ups. And another rolled an ankle. We want to err on the side of caution when this sort of thing happens. If any concussion event, twisted ankle, injury of any type happens etc, if you want medical assistance, the EMS folks are just minutes away. Observe players carefully and sit them down and ask for help if you suspect something isn't right. Watch for breathing, eye dialation, flushed features, incoherance, or inability to focus... all could be signs of a bigger problem. You all are doing well - We've seen some great baseball... the kids are a delight. West Plains has done a good job with everything from food vendors, to announcing, field prep, having umpires ready and WELL qualified... let us know if we can do anything better. We want to make your expereince good and pleasant for all. We were sorry to see the teams go yesterday, we'd love to just hang out all summer and play baseball... But... this is a tournament and we need to crown a champion... Let's PLAY BALL!
