They have set up our time in the Mariners differently this year. Instead of a Friday night event for Das and a guest, Marc is making it a 2-day event. Friday night would be (from. Marc) “The one on September 30th we will be inviting all the DAs and all the league Presidents. We will roll out the dates for next season and give everybody a meal.” According to the schedule that is a 6:40 game time. Then on Saturday (per Marc) “I’ll be putting the DAs up in a Suite. I’m finalizing all the details soon, but invites will be going out next week.” According to the schedule that is a 1:10 start. I told Marc of the dilemma. This gives us 2 choices – 1) have the state meeting a different day altogether; 2) After I told him the difficulty he wrote “He wrote “If you wanted, you could hold the meeting in the Suites. I’ll come in early and let everybody in and walk you up. Then you can just meet in the Suites and stay for the game while it goes on. The food and drinks would be brought in closer to gametime. It’s a 1:10pm afternoon game on October 1st.” The difficulty for the second option is it would be limited to D.A.s and a guest. This would exclude a lot of our support people. If we choose to have the state meeting on a different day, could we still have a mini meeting – report from the region, since Andrew and Kit are planning to come that weekend – a little earlier on Saturday. Maybe start at 11:30 or 12 in the suite? Please provide input on this so we can make arrangements. Bob has already reserved the building in Redmond for those dates. I would think any chance of us (it is a group obligation – not district 9) getting out of that would mean a decision right away.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to make Friday or Saturday. We will be out of town. My assistant will be able to attend the meetings on both days. I personally think any state meeting should include the support staff and not just the DA’s. My 2 Cents Last year the meeting with the mariners was 5-6 people standing around a table of cold cuts and fruit listening to Marc wander through an elevator spiel. I’d like to accomplish things with the Mariners, AND if we take advantage of their generosity, we should have some quality time to discuss things to A) Develop the relationship and serving each other’s interest, and B) Deal with issues in a setting where we can focus on topics, agree on things, and make progress… Conversely, I’d like to get my ADAs (yes I finally have ADAs), to the meeting with the rest of you animals so they can start taking things back to the Districts themselves… so I’m kind of in favor of a focused meeting in the facility Bob has rounded up with maybe lesser time spent watching the Mariners play baseball… (although that is fun too!). Has Marc indicated the agenda for Saturday that can not be done on Friday? I appreciate that Marc has invited the league presidents for Friday night. He does not indicate where the Friday night seating is and maybe the DA's can come earlier to discuss more than the Little League days for next year. _______________________________________________ Wadas mailing list Wadas@lists.rodeonetworks.com <mailto:Wadas@lists.rodeonetworks.com> http://lists.rodeonetworks.com/mailman/listinfo/wadas

Do I understand this correctly? DA's show up for 2 games? One on Friday and one on Saturday? Sounds like the M's have a presentation for the DA's on Friday and just the game on Saturday. The M's (Marc), I'm sure have good intentions, but this modifies the full day meeting we usually have. And leaves out the UIC meeting as well. Adding in the league presidents (and spouses/+ ones, maybe) sounds like controlled chaos. While this may work for Puget Sound area DA's additional travels for distant DA's may not. The Friday game, Saturday meeting model has seemed to work well in the past. I would suggest that since the M's dates are static maybe the state meeting gets moved to another day.
