Hi All, The DA Association for Washington State met last night to discuss direction forward with the 2020 season. Below is the "Official" letter from the DAs in Washington. It mirrors some of what you have already seen. The long and short of it is the DAs agreed it would be good to have some sort of season for 2020. LL has suspended the season until May 11. We anticipate earlier updates as the Corona Virus situation develops, but right now the plan is to begin playing on May 11. That may change. The DAs recommend trying to play some degree of season, and if it actually does restart on May 11, there will be a district cycle/All-Stars, State and Regional tournaments. So, we are recommending playing some season after May 11, try to get in 10 games or so if possible. We will restructure Districts and if the restart is on time, we WILL have a State Tournament cycle. If the season is delayed beyond May 11, LL will issue instructions and we will probably have to make more adjustments. Many leagues are reporting that their families are good with a summer season as most peoples' vacation plans are seriously disrupted and baseball seems like a good alternative for the summer. See the letter below - JP DA Washington Little League March 22, 2020 Dear Little League Families, We want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience with our current situation. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we will be updating you with any changes as soon as possible. As always, our first priority is that of the health and safety of our players, coaches, volunteers and communities. The District Administrators of Washington State met tonight via teleconference and discussed plans for the 2020 season and how to move forward with games and tournaments for your players. We will be following the most current recommendation from Little League and suspend play until May 11, 2020. At this time, we are planning to begin the season as soon after May 11 as is feasible. This date was set by Little League based on recommendations from the C.D.C. to refrain from group activities for eight weeks. Our goal at that time will be to play as much of a regular season as time allows and continue on to District and State Tournaments. This may include a modified tournament schedule to allow for as much regular season play as possible. We are awaiting further guidance from Little League on how to proceed with tournament eligibility. Little League International has strongly advised that Leagues take into consideration guidance from local authorities, school district closures and the recommendations of local health authorities. Little League is working on an interim policy to accommodate shortened seasons that will be announced in the coming weeks.
