District 3 has at least two venues that would take it. Montesano and Chehalis are both available. I found out about 3 days ago the hosting league is having problems due to health issues of the president. He has MS and his stomach has stopped processing food… so he is being fed intravenously. He is going to have to go to Seattle several times a month to try and get his stomach to start working again. He is the spark plug to get things done in that league and without him, the tournament has little chance of being successfully executed. I had worked with 4 or 5 leagues in the last 6 months to get the tournament successfully planted in District 13 or District 5. COVID took it’s toll on all the leagues in those two districts as many of them have significantly lower registration numbers (although we do have a couple of bright spots with leagues that have increased their numbers… some even almost adding 50% more kids and another league that was not going to play at all this year actually got a bunch of teams chartered and is playing!) . One league decided they couldn’t get volunteers together, another said that they couldn’t take the risk with COVID in getting all the businesses ramped up to help and then have it cancelled, another thought they had it all figured out only to have the city pull the plug on the project… and then this. The net result is I don’t have any leagues that are equipped and that can handle the tournament. I have been trying very hard to come up with another alternative, but it’s not looking good. Mike and I made the call yesterday to try and place the tournament somewhere else this year and try again in Dist 5 or 13 for next year. I know there are DAs with better skills, resources, and experience that will be able to pull this off successfully. I want to apologize to you all . I feel like I have let every DA down, and that I did not get the job done when it was needed most.
