WA State DA's, To speed up the 9-11 Baseball State Tournament we will be using a 2nd field at Mukilteo LL. The fiedl is a very well kept grass infield but does have an artificial mound. The main field we are using does have a dirt/clay mound. Please respond if you have any questions, approval or objections. Thanks for your consideration. D4 is OK with a portable mound as long as it's an approved one (which I'm sure you have). Since your packet says both fields have dirt mounds, do I need to update my manager on this change or are you contacting them about bringing the proper shoes for pitching? I am fine with the artificial mound as well, and would also like to use this as a platform to go on record amongst my peers in the Washington DA Association and ask why are we still asking for permission to use artificial mounds at our state tournaments? Are we just being courteous? Because if that’s the case, great! But seriously, in 15 years I don’t ever recall anyone objecting to the use of a properly sized artificial mound—and they theoretically need to be approved by the charter committee beforehand anyway, and they out rank us!🤷🏼♀️ So seriously, does anyone actually give a rats ass if one or all of us need to use a portable mound at our tournaments? Because I know I certainly don’t!😂😂😂 Especially now that it appears they are obviously becoming the norm rather than the exception…I mean, serious honest question here, what would a tournament host actually do if by some weird happenstance somebody objected? Move their tournament site at the eleventh hour to someplace else??? I mean, come on you guys can we please just stop with this nonsensical formality? The only formality should be to inform the other DA’s that we are going to be using one…sort of like when I use my blinker driving in Seattle traffic…I’m not asking for permission to scoot over, I’m goin’!!😜 Anyway…just sharing my two cent thoughts at the start of what will be my 3rd 14 hour day in a row at Intermediate State! Kim: One of the questions we have to answer under current rules is whether all DAs approve. We have all gone on record as approving, but we still get that question. Some of us may or may not say all DAs have approved because we are on record, but they ask if we specifically have approved for the current tournament. I think this is worth talking about at our fall meeting when we have a West Region rep there. On Tue, Jul 7, 2026 at 11:05 AM Amy Dahlin via Wadas < wadas@lists.rodeonetworks.com> wrote:

As fars “rat’s asses” go… I usually wouldn’t care either, except it’s nice to tell the manager’s of the team attending so that he knows to tell his rising MLB star which pair of shoes to wear that day… which sounds more like a fashion show than a baseball item… I’m also wondering how many assless rats there are in Washington state… I’m pretty sure all my rats have asses, although I haven’t taken an inventory lately… but since Kim brought it up, I better check… I’d hate to have a poorly equipped rat. Someday I might want to give a rat’s ass, and when I do I better have some in stock. 😊 Sincerely, JP District Administrator (DA) Washington Little League – District 13 E: dadist13@wadist13ll.org<mailto:dadist13@wadist13ll.org> T:509-995-4200 http://www.wadist13ll.org Follow us on Facebook@wadist13ll [cid:image003.png@01DD0E29.DA068010][cid:image004.jpg@01DD0E29.DA068010] From: Wadas <wadas-bounces@lists.rodeonetworks.com> On Behalf Of Kim Betzsold via Wadas Sent: Tuesday, July 7, 2026 10:27 AM To: Washington DAs Discussion Forum <wadas@lists.rodeonetworks.com> Cc: Kim Betzsold <kbetzsold@msn.com> Subject: Re: [Wadas] 9-11 BB Artificial Mound I am fine with the artificial mound as well, and would also like to use this as a platform to go on record amongst my peers in the Washington DA Association and ask why are we still asking for permission to use artificial mounds at our state tournaments? To speed up the 9-11 Baseball State Tournament we will be using a 2nd field at Mukilteo LL. The fiedl is a very well kept grass infield but does have an artificial mound.
The main field we are using does have a dirt/clay mound.
Please respond if you have any questions, approval or objections.
