Daily updates to the bracket will be posted each evening after all games have completed. Day 1 is in the books, and there was an exciting finish at the end of the day between D6 Hazel Dell and D1 Snohomish that took 8 innings before D6 Hazel Dell took the win. Here is the current status as of the end of Day 3, Monday, June 20, for WA State Baseball 8-9-10: Blue highlighted games are from earlier today. Winning teams are in Green [cid:image001.png@01DD18A5.955EA060] We have had to say goodbye to and congratulated the following 5 teams who have been eliminated: * D7 - South Highline National * D1 - Snohomish * D3 - Montesano * D11 - Burlington Edison * D4 - Camas Everyone has for the most part been great with very few issues, none of which are noteworthy. We have an 8 foot wide banner bracket, and after every team win, the winning teams gets to "MOVE" their team along to the next column in the bracket. It is quite the spectacle and the families and teams all gather around for the celebration. Here is the current status as of the end of Day 4, Tueaday, July 21, for WA State Baseball 8-9-10: Blue highlighted games are from earlier today. Winning teams are in Green [cid:image004.png@01DD1972.51E17880] * 94 degrees today in Woodinville. Lots of water breaks! And for those that don't know, its always hotter on turf than it is on grass, dirt, and even the asphalt. * We had a pitchers' duel between D5 Othello and D12 Richland National, with Othello coming out on top 1-0 with a single run scored in the bottom of the 5th * We had an amazing comeback (or a meltdown depending upon your point of view), with D9 Issaquah down 10-2 to D6 Hazel Dell the start of the 5th inning, and wound up winning with a walk-off sacrifice fly 11-10 in the bottom of the 6th * Two teams left in the 'winners' side of the bracket. D5 Othello and D8 Northeast Seattle, who face off on Thursday at 6pm for the right to move onto the Championship. * We said goodbye to two more teams: * D13 Liberty Lake Spokane Valley * D6 Hazel Dell And here is our 8' wide Banner Bracket that the winning teams get to move their own team to the next column of the bracket. Winning teams are in Green * We are down to 3 teams out of the original 13. * D8 Northeast Seattle punched their ticket to the State Championship Game by beating D5 Othello 11-1 * D10 Bonney Lake Sumner beat D12 Richland National 6-0. * This sets up a final 3rd place game in the Elimination side of the bracket between D5 Othello and D10 Bonney Lake Sumner on Friday evening at 6pm, with the winner of that facing off against D8 Northeast Seattle on Saturday at 12n for the Championship (if necessary game on Sunday at 12n) * Everyone has been great with very few issues: * ...and those have usually just been with an occasional parent getting a bit too "animated"-who we have a quick chat with and the issue resolves itself. * Yea, we had 2 days of temperatures in the upper 90's which is very rare and causes us Seattle folks to melt; I have been filling up every team's water buckets for misters and was prepared for this. * The players and Coaches have been fantastic throughout the tournament. * We are in the home stretch and can see the finish line of Tournament Play (been at it every day since June 18 without any breaks). FINAL Congratulations to D8 Northeast Seattle for winning State Baseball 8-9-10. Championship Game #2. D8 Northeast Seattle 10 D5 Othello 2 D5 was a fantastic team with very enthusiastic families. They were fun and always in the game. No real issues from the State Tournament. Everyone was great. I wish things were as smooth as compared to some teams and their attitudes during my own District tournaments. And for those that don’t know, its always hotter on turf than it is on grass, dirt, and even the asphalt. * We had a pitchers’ duel between D5 Othello and D12 Richland National, with Othello coming out on top 1-0 with a single run scored in the bottom of the 5th * We had an amazing comeback (or a meltdown depending upon your point of view), with D9 Issaquah down 10-2 to D6 Hazel Dell the start of the 5th inning, and wound up winning with a walk-off sacrifice fly 11-10 in the bottom of the 6th * Two teams left in the ‘winners’ side of the bracket. Winning teams are in Green <image005.png> We have had to say goodbye to and congratulated the following 5 teams who have been eliminated: * D7 – South Highline National * D1 – Snohomish * D3 – Montesano * D11 – Burlington Edison * D4 – Camas Everyone has for the most part been great with very few issues, none of which are noteworthy. We have an 8 foot wide banner bracket, and after every team win, the winning teams gets to “MOVE” their team along to the next column in the bracket. It is quite the spectacle and the families and teams all gather around for the celebration.
