Is anyone planning to have a senior softball program in your district?
Yes, WA D8 is likely to have a team. The RUG Little League JR SB team that made it to the Championship game at Regionals in Tucson last summer pretty much wants to come back and do this again as a Senior Softball team. They are working on recruiting a few extra players to round out the team. Also, I had sent a message on this about 2 weeks ago to this WA DA Email Distribution List, but only heard back from a few other DA's. That puts us back to the July 4th holiday weekend (Fri 7/4, Sat 7/5, Sun 7/6). And I already know that having this State Tournament the weekend of June 27-29 won’t work due to player availability.

We have NO District host for this at the present time and we need to get some clarity on this.
Districts that we know will have a team:
- District 2 – North Kitsap LL - District 8 – RUG LL
I keep hearing rumors that D1, D6, D9, D11 may have a team

Hi Melanie, We don’t know yet. I was finally able to get ahold of someone in D2, Brittany Freeze. I haven’t been able to get any response from Pat Ryan via multiple emails, VM’s and txts. The idea was to try to have a HOME and HOME series between D2 and D8, but if D6 (and possibly D9, D1) have teams, that may require a more centralized location. The sooner we can lock this down, the sooner we can try to determine a host location and timeframe. My idea was to get a Zoom meeting together between the Districts and Leagues involved and just hammer out the details. I don’t believe this is a level of play where we can just dictate the tournament date—we need to find something that works for everyone—even though it may not make everyone happy. So the sooner we can get more info if D6, D9 and D1 will have teams, the better to get this moving forward. Given it was originally just D2 and D8, we were trying to find something that works. There are dates that won’t work given logistics, along with the fact that quite a few of the girls will be playing in a select tournament in Tri Cities the weekend of June 27-29. What I do know is this, per Kit: Given that there is no minimum game play required for Senior Softball Tournament eligibility, any league that will have a Senior Softball All Star Tournament team MUST charter a Regular Season team at the same level, and that deadline is June 1st. That is besides needing to Charter an All Star Tournament Team for that level by the June 15th deadline. Kit told me she will NOT deal with any waiver requests after that point to try to add a team. That avoids the issue of anyone trying to take a late Juniors Softball team and moving them to the Senior level during Tournament season. Kit said to me “…leagues should not be waiting until the State JLSB tournament to decide.” Besides the fact that the Junior Softball All Star Tournament will be held starting on July 5th. I did do one thing already, which was order a WA State Championship banner for whichever team wins Senior Softball. That arrived a few days ago (with all my other D8 Tournament Championship banners). I think it would help if we just established a site for this tournament as the first step in planning. Brian, since you seem to be the only for sure," do you have a league that would host? That is besides needing to Charter an All Star Tournament Team for that level by the June 15th deadline. Kit told me she will NOT deal with any waiver requests after that point to try to add a team. That avoids the issue of anyone trying to take a late Juniors Softball team and moving them to the Senior level during Tournament season. Kit said to me “**…leagues should not be waiting until the State JLSB tournament to decide.”*
Besides the fact that the Junior Softball All Star Tournament will be held starting on July 5th.
I did do one thing already, which was order a WA State Championship banner for whichever team wins Senior Softball. That arrived a few days ago (with all my other D8 Tournament Championship banners).

Districts that we know will have a team:
- District 2 – North Kitsap LL - District 8 – RUG LL
I keep hearing rumors that D1, D6, D9, D11 may have a team
- If there is only 1 team, they get a bye straight to Regionals in Montana. - If there are two team, such as D2 and D8, the proposed plan is to have a HOME and HOME set of games to determine a State Champion, but I cannot seem to get Pat Ryan to reply to any of my emails, VM’s or txt’s to confirm from D2. - If there are 3 or more Districts, then we probably need to find a HOST District.
The sooner we figure this out, the better. I have families that are asking about a schedule. We are about to go into May with no clarity and I really don’t want to be trying to figure this out at the last minute.
The Regional Tournament starts on Thursday July 17. That means having a State Tournament that wraps up the previous weekend (July 12-13) won’t logistically work to deal with info needed for Regional and logistics of getting the team to Montana. That puts us back to the July 4th holiday weekend (Fri 7/4, Sat 7/5, Sun 7/6). And I already know that having this State Tournament the weekend of June 27-29 won’t work due to player availability.

RUG Little League, which is just north of UW, wants to host. They are the one with the SB Seniors team. If they can’t, then the alternate is Northshore Athletic Fields (NAF) in Woodinville. Field availability shouldn’t be an issue. The issue is what works for the teams/leagues/districts that have known teams. Any late additions would likely need to Brittany from D2 was going to try to discuss with Pat and with North Kitsap. Below is a calendar from June/July. Green shows good. Yellow is unavailable/caution. July 4 should NOT be off the table as possibility for games. Districts that we know will have a team: * District 2 – North Kitsap LL * District 8 – RUG LL I keep hearing rumors that D1, D6, D9, D11 may have a team * If there is only 1 team, they get a bye straight to Regionals in Montana. * If there are two team, such as D2 and D8, the proposed plan is to have a HOME and HOME set of games to determine a State Champion, but I cannot seem to get Pat Ryan to reply to any of my emails, VM’s or txt’s to confirm from D2. * If there are 3 or more Districts, then we probably need to find a HOST District. The sooner we figure this out, the better. I have families that are asking about a schedule. We are about to go into May with no clarity and I really don’t want to be trying to figure this out at the last minute. The Regional Tournament starts on Thursday July 17. That means having a State Tournament that wraps up the previous weekend (July 12-13) won’t logistically work to deal with info needed for Regional and logistics of getting the team to Montana. That puts us back to the July 4th holiday weekend (Fri 7/4, Sat 7/5, Sun 7/6). And I already know that having this State Tournament the weekend of June 27-29 won’t work due to player availability.
