Hi everyone, I am sorry to have to inform you of this, but due to multiple resource constraints and field scheduling, I am having to adjust the WA STATE Baseball 8-10 Tournament inward by one week. NEW Starting Date: Saturday, July 18 OLD Starting Date: Saturday, July 25 Yes, that means its possible you may have to adjust inward your District Tournaments for Baseball 8-10 in order to allow your District Champion to have the proper pitching days rest, and also allow for teams to notify us as the Host District for State as well as make travel arrangements for those coming from a far distance. I have spoken with Glen about this already to discuss and explain my situation. Again, I apologize for making this change now, but its still mid-April, and we are talking about a change to July. Better to notify everyone now than in June. Opinion on for Hosting State SB 8/10's

Hi everyone! Our district has been struggling to find fields for hosting the Softball State 8/10's this year. One league has proposed using two standard baseball fields (minus the pitching mound) with a short lawn mowing of the infield. We used this field last year for our District SB 8/10 tournament and it worked out well. What is your opinion of the subject? Would this be satisfactory to your district as to the rules of infield play? The leagues that can host are under road construction, do not have fences, have horrible parking or turf infields. What have your districts done in the past with the younger softball circle and pitching plate placement on turf fields? Have you had to ask for forgiveness for messing with the infield? Background Checks

Hello, Does anyone have advice for setting requirements of what passes or fails a background check when the items in the background check are not crimes against children? I can't find anything definitive or even guidance with LL. What I hear is each league can set what is acceptable and not acceptable. State Website update

Just an FYI for folks. I made a bunch of updates to our state website to get ready for the 2026 season (adding links for 2026 brackets and tournament info). As I get more information, I’ll add it. I also created a new Tournament Administration page for 2026 where I will post all of the state packets and other information for all of the administrators (basically, all of us). I’ll send the link out often to remind folks. Right now, it just says “coming soon” for everything 😊. Only three districts and the junior softball tournament have sent in directory updates so far this year. I am attaching it as it is. Many may be unchanged. If your district heading is red and blue, you are unchanged from 2025. If it is purple and gold, I have updated it. Possibly you attempted to send in a change, but I haven't received it. Sometimes I miss the relative reliability (but slow and cumbersome) fax machines when digital communication seems to disappear. Please correct as needed. I will send out an updated directory by May 1.

JLSWS Announcer Tom Davis Passing April 13, 2026

Hello Committee, I am writing to update you with the sad news that Tom passed away peacefully and without pain at approximately 2:00 AM this morning. His wife Kammi, his daughter Rylynn, and Kammi’s father were all present with him. There are currently no set plans for services, but Kammi is considering an online celebration to accommodate Tom's many friends and international colleagues. As many of you know, before serving as the head announcer for the JLSWS in 1999, Tom spent many years as the head announcer for the LLSWS in Portland. For several years, he managed to serve in both roles when the schedules permitted. As a career, Tom was an Everett School District educator, coach, and announcer. Tom and Kammi (mostly Kammi) also operated a Gelato/Cannoli/Espresso store in South Everett for many years. Joanne and I visited there many times and also appreciated the times Tom would bring gelato to a committee meeting or the World Series. I will keep everyone updated as further plans develop.
