Use of portable mounds for State Major Baseball Tournament

All, The host league for the State Major Baseball tournament uses portable mounds on their fields. The mounds they use are True Pitch model 302 mounds. These are on Little League's approved list. They apparently just bought the mounds this year so they are in great shape (not cheap either). Tournament rules require that for games beyond District play the use of portable mounds must be approved by the Tournament Committee. For that approval they want to see concurrence from all of the districts participating in the tournament. I have sent you a separate email with instructions on filling out a Google Form to voice your approval or denial of using portable mounds. Please take a few minutes to fill out the form so that I can let Western Region (and all of you) know what your decision is. Mariners Suite

We have finalized details with the details of the Mariners suite night. As per your vote, it will be Friday, Sept. 29, at T-Mobile. We will go directly to the suite. You all should have received tickets. I will bug Marc about parking passes next week. We don’t have any early time requirements. Dress the past few years has been casual since we haven’t gotten to be out on the field since Bob left. I am discussing the need for a more comprehensive meeting with Marc, but I don’t know if we will get it since he will be running two events at once (us and the presidents).

State Meeting

I have been occupied with aspects of our Friday evening (Suites for DAs – Hit It Here for presidents) and haven’t gotten a draft agenda done, yet. I am hoping to get it done Saturday and have it out on Sunday. I have some requests: Please send me your agenda items. Please let me k now how many people you are bringing for the state meeting and the umpire meeting so I can plan food. On Monday, I will decide what to bring and how much, so I need numbers by then. So far 3 and 10 have responded. I am planning food that has meat – sandwiches, wraps or pizza. If you or someone you are bringing needs something different (salad, vegetarian option) please let me know. I will also have some muffins, yogurt and coffee. If enough people want fruit, I’ll get some. I have noticed not a lot of that gets eaten. Thank you, glen

One of my leagues (with 77 teams and my largest challenger program) is losing its lease on the property holding their fields. They can get other land, but need grants to reconstruct fields. Does anyone know of any grants that will help construct/improve fields?

Change In State Meeting Site

Communications is everything, and I didn't communicate well enough with Bob to get the meeting site correct. The state meeting will be held at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center at 16250 NE 74th St, Redmond, WA 98052. We met there several times pre-covid and it has great meeting rooms and common area where we can all get together at lunch. I apologize for making assumptions and sending the wrong meeting room information.

State Meeting

The fall State meeting will be Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m. We will have coffee, pastries or muffins, fruit, yogurt and water for the beginning of the meeting and lunch TBD for everyone. To help with planning, please let me know how many people you will be bringing to the meeting (including umpires) so I can purchase appropriate amounts of food, water, plates and utensils. The meeting location is the same it has been the last couple of years: Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village, 6505 176th Avenue NE, Redmond, WA 98052.

Mariners Suite Revisited

Nothing seems easy in dealing with the Mariners since Covid (which coincidentally is when Bob left). Marc has booked the president’s event at the Hit It Here Café group area for the 29th. Apparently he hadn’t put that one on the list when he agreed to get a suite for us on the 29th. Now he has realized there is a conflict since we are also invited to the president’s meeting. Our state meeting is scheduled for Saturday morning and afternoon. We combined the state meeting and Mariner’s event over a decade ago to make it easier for the Eastern Washington folks. So, please vote for one of the following options. If the vote is too divided, I will put up the top two for a revote. I have put them in chronological order. Option 1 – Have DAs in a Suite on the 28th and then have back for the president’s event the next night (29th). Option 2 - DAs and guests stop in at the beginning of the president’s event to hear the dates with the Presidents and head to a Suite. Option 3 - The Friday night event will be only for Presidents and Marc can tell us the dates in our Suite. Option 4 – DAs attend the president’s event on the 29th and come to the suite the next night (30th).
