Use of portable mounds for State Major Baseball Tournament

All, The host league for the State Major Baseball tournament uses portable mounds on their fields. The mounds they use are True Pitch model 302 mounds. These are on Little League's approved list. They apparently just bought the mounds this year so they are in great shape (not cheap either). Tournament rules require that for games beyond District play the use of portable mounds must be approved by the Tournament Committee. For that approval they want to see concurrence from all of the districts participating in the tournament. I have sent you a separate email with instructions on filling out a Google Form to voice your approval or denial of using portable mounds. Please take a few minutes to fill out the form so that I can let Western Region (and all of you) know what your decision is. WA State Major Baseball Tournament Information Packet

Ladies & Gentlemen: District 2 is hosting the Washington State Major Baseball Tournament in Poulsbo at North Kitsap Little League July 15th through July 22nd. I have enclosed a copy of the game schedule for your convenience. This is also available on our district website. Housing will not be provided by District 2 so your team members will need to procure their own housing. Hotels in the area are quite full this year. We are working on getting the local hotels to block out rooms or provide a discounted rate. Teams should ask for the Little League rate. We will send out an update when we know which hotels we were able obtain additional support from. I ask for your help in getting the team packet to the winning team promptly and please be sure that the manager understands all of the information in the packet. Please have your team check the District 2 website for the most current information as the activities timeline may change. I will also send you any updates prior to July 12th so, if you desire, you can update the package you hand to your team. But please have your team rely on the District 2 website for the latest information. District Administrators The State Tournament Brackets have been posted on the State Website and announced on Social Media. Please check your tournament bracket on the state website and make sure I have posted the most current bracket posted. All, Please see the attached and below for the request to use portable mounds for the Major Baseball State tournament. Just keeping you all in the loop on this. The vote was unanimous from all districts. Thank you all. Andrew Cortez says he will send the request to the tournament committee on Monday. Note, if any of the other baseball state tournaments plan to use portable mounds this same process is required for those tournaments. I don't recall that this question has been asked for any of the other tournaments. Looking ahead, District 2 votes in favor of using portable mounds that are Little League approved for all divisions of play at the State level. 16 year old State Umpires

All, We are getting sort of desperate for umpires of the State 8-10 Baseball Tournament in Othello. We may be able to get field umps from the local high schools that are 16-17 year olds. I was thinking about putting them in the field/bases with an adult behind the plate. Is this acceptable to all? Regards JP DA WA5/13

Hi ALL Thanks to you all that said you would put together crews for the 8-10 BB State Tournament in Othello. We may be getting close to getting the 22nd and 23rd covered (10 games between those two days). however for ANYTHING after the 23rd of July we have ZERO prospects. (no umpires whatsoever have signed up for anything after the 23rd). We could really use some help in the next few days after that. We have 4 games the 24th and 25th, 2 games on the 26th and 27th, one on the 28th and one on the 29th. (Unless there is a "what if" game, we should be good to finish on the 29th). So if you all know of anyone or have crews that can fill in some gaps, we are happy to accommodate.
