District Administrators (Please pass this on to your district and Leagues social media administrators) During the COVID-19 pandemic, many tournaments were streamed online... Now... We have scams that have followed. I have noticed that Scammers have infiltrated many of our Washington State District's and league's social media pages (mostly Facebook) with links to fake LIVE streams. The scam post will be in the form of a comment on the District's or league's social media posts about team championships or good luck in the upcoming tournaments. Under the comments look for a post like this: The scammer hopes the victim will click the link and enter their information and pay to watch the event, however, the victim will be unable to watch the stream even after their information is entered - Instead, the data the victim just entered will be compromised. These comments can be removed by the person who is the administrator of the district or league social media page - thus no one will see it and can not get scammed. _(always block the person 1st and then delete the post -_ _If you delete the post 1st, you can't block them from posting it again)_ Here are some quick tips for fans, parents, grandparents, and or other family members on how to stay safe online: 1. REMEMBER - IF A GAME IS STREAMED (By a Parent or League) IT WILL BE FREE - THERE IS NO CHARGE, SO DON'T ENTER CREDIT CARD INFORMATION * Be cautious clicking on links included in social media posts, unsolicited text messages, or emails. Clicking on unfamiliar links can place you at risk for malware or identity theft. Heat in Othello During State Tournament.

Hi Kevin, I am the District Administrator for Districts 5/13 in Washington State, which is a pretty large chunk of Eastern Washington. The site administrator for the State Little League website sent me your question regarding heat, rescheduling the tournament and so forth for the 8-10 Baseball Tournament in Othello coming up July 22nd. I appreciate your concern, and we do take note of the time/date the tournament is being played. That being said, we will play the tournament on schedule as it is part of a much larger frame work of tournaments.. Here is a statement we recently released about the Tournament and playing in the "heat": The organizers and tournament director for the State 8-10 division tournament are well aware of the issues related to heat, hydration, and the constraints of playing in that environment. TO that end, the schedule has been set up so games are evenly distributed in the earlier part of the day and later in the evening, leaving the "heat of the day" with no games currently scheduled. Additionally each dugout will have ample water, and managers and coaches are encouraged to bring air circulating systems that blow air from a mister or ice bucket. Managers are also encouraged to continually monitor their players for heat exhaustion and dehydration. We will brief hydration guidelines and "how to beat the heat" team management techniques during the coaches meeting the day before the tournament kicks off. Finally all players actively playing during game times will be occasionally monitored for heat exhaustion by tournament officials while their game is being played. Managers of the teams are primarily responsible for maintaining their team members hydration and heat monitoring. We ask you to keep your players out of the swimming pool at the hotel or campground during the heat of the day, and instead in stay the air conditioning, out of the sun, resting and hydrating. Fans are encouraged to bring umbrellas, plenty to drink, "easy ups", and camp chairs to beat the heat. Essentially heat is an issue from June 1 here in the eastern LL districts where temperatures at game time have been as hot as 113 degrees (I still have the screen shot on my phone from that day). During one District Tournament the temperature was 108 degrees at 3:30 in the afternoon. we stopped the game at the end of an inning and turned the sprinklers on and let the players run through them for 10 minutes to cool off. while we are not perfect, we do keep an eye on things when it comes to heat. I appreciate your concern and we will do our best to maintain a healthy and safe tournament in Othello. Hope to see you there! Regards JP DA WA5/13

Hi All, I sent out some press release for the Juniors State tournament being held in Dist 13 this year. Several of the press outlets have bit the bait. but one has a question I can't answer and could use some help.and I figured with all the senile gray hair in this group (not necessarily referencing Toigo but if the shoe fits). someone could remember any Little Leaguers from Washington State that went on to do something notable after their stint with Little League. The paper is trying to work an angle of "you might just see some up and comers at this tournament". Anyone know of anyone from Washington State Little League at any level that went on to be MLB players? Hockey? Politicians? Business Leaders? Is there someone in Williamsport to contact? The museum? All, SCHEDULE CHANGE for the 22nd 8-10 Baseball. There is a "Block Party" for all Little Leaguers on the 22nd in Othello. The city is putting on a great downtown festival to honor the tournament participants. The EVENING GAMES HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE MORNING SO EVERYONE CAN ATTEND. PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS SCHEDULE CHANGE TO YOUR MANAGERS. THERE WILL BE NO EVENING GAMES SO THAT PLAYERS AND FAMILIES CAN ATTEND THE BLOCK PARTY. PLAYERS SHOULD WEAR A CAP OR SOMETHING THAT IDENTIFIES WHICH TEAM THEY ARE WITH.. The city is putting on the party at no cost so that players and families can celebrate being in the tournament. Still short on Umpires

Hi All, We are still desperately short on umpires for BOTH 8-10 and Juniors - 8-10 starts on the 22nd and Juniors on the 15th. We have umps for the weekend schedules but very few for during the week of play. Any help will be appreciated. Both tournaments are short in filling the schedule.
