Little League Days - 2022

All, Each year the Mariners have “Little League” days… they have special ticket pricing, and have a parade down on the field for the Little Leaguers… please see below for additional information. If you don’t have the special ticket for this, or don’t understand what this is about… you can contact Mark below. They give us special ticket prices, and some goodies, plus the parade each year - JP DA WA5/13 <<<SNIP>>> Hi everybody, Sorry for the delay in getting this information out. I’m waiting to hear back a couple of things from our Ballpark Operations department, but I have enough information now that I can get this out and send an update if necessary. We are coming up quickly to the first of the three Little League dates and our first parade since 2019. Should end up close to 4,000. This year is a little different since the gates now open 90 minutes before first pitch, instead of 2 hours. So, we are sending communication to every person who buys a ticket, so they know to come early to ensure they get a chance to take part in the parade. To review and update this year’s plan: Route is the normal one from years past: Here is the timeline for Sunday: 11:00am: arrive at the gate where tickets and wristbands (which allows you field access) will be distributed 11:10am: enter the ballpark and we will address the parade volunteer group 11:20am: proceed to the tunnel 11:25am: prepare to line the field for the parade 11:40am: gates open, parade begins immediately (subject to earlier opening) Please impress upon your folks to be on time. Once we have proceeded down the ramp to the tunnel there is no longer a way to get a latecomer their tickets to get in the ballpark until after the parade has been completed. And you would need to make the arrangements to get the ticket in their hands. Please let me know if you have any questions. A reminder no one under the age of 14 will be able to be a parade volunteer on field. Thanks everybody and have a great day! District Tournaments

All, It's time to start planning the District Tournaments for 5/13. Dist 5 will hold it's District Tournament in Clarkston this year. Dist 13 will hold it's District Tournament in Liberty Lake this year. We have the following divisions that could potentially hold a District Tournament Baseball (Both 5 and 13) 9-10 Year Old 10-11 Year Old Majors Intermediate (Juniors will be sent to state from District 5 if they get 12 games in this year at a minimum, no Juniors in 13 this year). Softball (District 13 Only, Dist 5 does have Softball, but not sure yet what they want to do about District Tournament ) 9-10 10-11 Majors Both Tournaments will be held in the last week in June, which is necessary because some state divisions start the week right after the 4th of July. I have sent out the state schedules earlier this year. So we need to get an understanding of who is going to send All-Stars in which division this year for each District. Since the leagues have been sending in their assessments this year, the District will buy the Trophies/Medals/Banners. I am asking EVERY LEAGUE to send at least one team in one division this year. If your league can send a team in EVERY division that would be GREAT! We will also need lots of Umpires - Umpires - Umpires! So - we need to hop on a Zoom call the week of the 18th. We will do two separate calls. Does anyone have a day that works better to be on a zoom call? I anticipate the first call will be at 6:00 PM and the second at 7:15 - doesn't take much to get the effort kicked off, the hard work comes after we have the kickoff call. I am personally looking forward to a great district season this year. We are seeing lots of surprising growth in league numbers in both districts. I am also seeing new boards, new efforts, and people really stepping up! Let me know which day would be better for a call next week..! All, I have gotten an update from the folks at LL International. I am very proud to say 100% of the leagues in District 13 got their ASAP Safety plans in! (Still need Bi-County to correct one thing on theirs but they got credit for a submission!!!) You ALL made it in before the cut-off! The District will receive a stipend from LL for 100% participation. Thanks so much as it helps to defray costs of operating the district when you all pull together and get it done. And on top of that, I now have something to poke District 5 with as they only reached 80% this year (I'll tell District 5 folks something like "Why can't you all be like your brother District 13" LOL ) - Well Done District 13! LL District 13 Coaches Clinic April 9

There is a coaches clinic THIS WEEKEND at Pend Orielle LL (Newport WA) ALL LEAGUES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND/SEND COACHES!!! The schedule is as follows: 8:30-10:30 - T-Ball and Farm 11:00 - 1:00 - Minors/Majors The Address for the Clinic is 230 South Garden Ave. Newport, WA 99156 - If you plan on sending coaches to this clinic, please let me know ASAP so I can have the right amount of materials ready for handout. (There will be some handouts). ANY LEAGUE IS INVITED TO SEND COACHES. Whether you are an old-timer, or a new coach, or anywhere in between there will be good stuff for all coaching skill levels. If you need to learn how to coach, have been a coach for a while, or are an "old hand" at it, there will be something for you! Better coaching makes for a better experience for the players! If you can bring a glove, some bats, and a couple kids in each age group that would be good. In the minors and majors age group we can handle as many kids (up to about 20) as want to attend. There will be a couple of handouts. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN ON THAT DAY. IF IT IS GOING TO RAIN FOR SURE, WE WILL POSTPONE THE CLINIC UNTIL THE WEATHER COOPERATES. I WILL MAKE THAT CALL THURSDAY OR FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK. We will cover a variety of subjects ranging from Skills and Drills, tips and tricks on the field during play, rules, strategy, LL opportunities, and more. There is something for every coaching level.
