All, Little League requires we meet 5x per year to discuss Little League Issues. I am sending out a Zoom invitation for THURSDAY April 20, at 6:00PM for District 5 Board Members, Presidents of All Leagues, and others interested in Little League issues. We will be discussing the District Tournament, along with the State tournament schedule, some rules changes, and anything else you all wish to discuss. We have some things specific to the District All-Stars we need to discuss. ALL presidents should attend, and ANY Board Members that wish to attend may attend. GREAT WORK LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM!

All, (Tournament information below as well - so read the whole thing!) I wanted to let you all know that BOTH districts (5/13) GOT ALL THEIR ASAP PLANS SUBMITTED! Thanks so much, this will equate to $600 being added to the District fund that we can use for all kinds of things related to Little League. This year we will use it to buy pins and flags for the District AND STATE tournaments (seeing as how both districts have a State Tournament this year!). I am SO very proud of all the effort you all put into getting this done. Now my next goal is to get all the leagues to upload their player registrations into the Data Center. You can do this automatically from Blue Sombrero/ Sports Connect. this helps Little League immensely and gives YOU tools to market your programs the following year. Next week we will need to have a District-wide meeting regarding some rules changes for the year, AND to discuss and get team counts for District Tournaments. I will send out the Zoom or Google Meets invites by Saturday for next week. ALL PRESIDENTS SHOULD ATTEND and ANY Board Member that would like to attend may. Most likely it will be next Thursday - after work. Please have the divisions in mind you would like to send to the District Tournament. We have the following to pick from for Brackets: 9-10 Year Old - Minors - Baseball/Softball 10-11 - Baseball 11-12 - Majors - Baseball/Softball 11-13 - Intermediate - Baseball 12-14 - Juniors - Baseball The District 5 Tournament this year will be in Walla Walla at Pacific Little League - Jim Fry President The District 13 Tournament this year will be in Deer Park at Tri-County Little League - Ryan Wilson - President There are lots of new boards and board members in both Districts, so for those of you that don't know, each year the Districts have a District All-Star tournament. This is the beginning of the "Road to Williamsport" as they say. The district tournament is where each league sends a team of it's best players to play against all the other leagues in the District for the chance to go to State. Ages 12 and above go on to regionals if they win state, and from Regionals, all ages above 12 can go to a World Series --- (each Division age 12 and above have state, regional, and world series options to play). Ages under 12 can only advance to State. This is a great incentive for your players to play their best and a great honor to be selected on to a District All-Star Team. Also if you have questions or need anything - don't hesitate to call me - 509-288-0141 - We had quite a few questions early on, but it's been quiet the last week or so. We have not received all the league assessments for this year, so please get those sent in. Without the Annual League assessment, we would have to fund district operations out of our pockets.. As a question, there had been talk of a both an early season tournament and a mid-season tournament - in both districts, or one for both districts. is there still any interest in that? Please let me know. Thanks for the work of our Assistant DAs - Brennan Moore in Distrct 5 and Stacy Ashcroft in District 13, and of course the great workshop Mark Dixon (District 13 UIC) and Dennis Williams (State UIC) put on for umpires in Medical Lake. we actually had umpires attend from BOTH Districts. Dennis does a good job always, and Mark has taken the reigns in District 13 very nicely. We do need to find a District UIC for District 5, so if you all have a SEASONED UIC who wants to improve the umpire situation district wide, have them contact me. of course, it's a volunteer position but very much needed. All, Please see below - Little League Days with the Mariners! JP DA WA5/13 From: Mahoney, Marc /SEATTLE MARINERS Subject: Little League Days - 2023 Hi everybody, Baseball is back! My PacWest Rockies have our first T-Ball game on Thursday and the kids are very excited to get to hit on the "big" field. Instead of our practice field. This is my first season as a head coach and I just can't thank you all enough for the work you do every year to make this such a special time for the kids! Our first of 4 Little League days is in 2 weeks on April 16th. It was amazing to get everybody back on the field for parades last year. After a lot of prodding, I was able to get the parades to start 2 hours early (like we had done for years) instead of 90 minutes like they had us doing last year. We will again be sending communication to every person who buys a ticket, so they know to come early to ensure they get a chance to take part in the parade. As of about 5 minutes ago, we have just shy of 2,000 tickets for April 16th. Please make sure your folks are sharing the website www.mariners.com/littleleague <http://www.mariners.com/littleleague> with everybody to remind them about the offer. I expect the game on the 23rd with the Cardinals will be our biggest. That date already has over 4,000 sold. Marketing is finalizing the details, but we will be honoring Bob Hellinger at all 4 games this season. I'll send another reminder email closer to the game, but wanted to get information out to everyone now that I have it. Here is our plan for this season: Route will be back to normal Here is the timeline for Sunday, April 16th: 10:30am: arrive at the Terrace Club Skybridge gate where tickets and wristbands (which allows you field access) will be distributed 10:40am: enter the ballpark and we will address the parade volunteer group 10:50am: proceed to the tunnel 10:55am: prepare to line the field for the parade 11:10am: gates open, parade begins immediately (subject to earlier opening) Please impress upon your folks to be on time. Once we have proceeded down the ramp to the tunnel there is no longer a way to get a latecomer their tickets to get in the ballpark until after the parade has been completed. And you would need to make the arrangements to get the ticket in their hands. Please let me know if you have any questions.
